Enjoy a brief cycling tour of some of Sri Lanka’s major cultural and historical sites. This tour is designed specifically for those looking to get a quick taste of Sri Lanka’s rich history with a sprinkle of beachside leisure.
Start your cycling tour in Sigiriya and visit the ancient rock fortress built by King Kashyapa back in the 5th century while you will also get to witness the beautiful frescoes and impressive architectural feats found here.
You will ride to the ancient ruins of Polonnaruwa as well. Known as Sri Lanka’s second most ancient kingdom, Polonnaruwa boasts a proud history and clues to its rich past can be found among its ruins.
Then take a ride to Sri Lanka’s east coast and experience what Sri Lanka is renowned for. Pasikuda has one of the country’s most beautiful beaches. You will travel across the famous Manampitiya Bridge as you make your way to the coastal Pasikuda which makes for the ideal final stop on this tour.

You will meet our cycle guide in Sigiriya at the Lion Rock entrance, after which you will start climbing the magnificent 5th century rock fortress. This palace was once inhabited by renegade King Kashyapa. It is also renowned as one of the best remaining examples of ancient urban planning. Afterwards you will start cycling to the second most ancient kingdom of Sri Lanka, Polonnaruwa, which dates to the 13th century. The track provides a smooth route on a fairly flat and open terrain as well as taking you through a forest patch. You will cycle along the great Minneriya Tank which was built by King Mahasen. This wonderful feat of human endeavour covers an area of approximately 4,670 acres.
